COURSE OBJECTIVES:  Gangs are a significant threat to public safety in Texas. They are responsible for high levels of violence throughout the state, such as murder, sex trafficking, armed robbery, and aggravated assault. Texas gangs are heavily involved in the trafficking of methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, and marijuana.  In this course we will cover cycle of gang violence, gang cohesiveness, desistance and gang control efforts, gang prevalence in Texas, evidence-based violence reduction strategies, Texas laws related to gangs, investigation tools and techniques and review cases studies.
