COURSE OBJECTIVES:   This course was designed to meet the requirements of HB 3834 requiring state and local government employees to annually complete a certified cybersecurity training and to report compliance to Texas Department of Information Resources.  This training is for Texas state and local government organizations, including municipalities, school districts, junior colleges and public universities.

Upon successful completion of this training,  you will be able to define cybersecurity., list the importance of cybersecurity, list and discuss the best practices of safeguarding information, discuss the security practices for working remotely,  list and discuss the key concepts in cybersecurity, discuss how to securely store information, list ways to properly dispose and sanitize information, discuss cybersecurity tips and best practices when using artificial intelligence, list and discuss the types of cyber threats, discuss some examples of cyber attacks in Texas, list and discuss cybersecurity measures, and dscuss some historic ransomware attacks that have occurred across the country.
